Gil Contreras Legaspi is a sworn reserve police officer, accomplished small business owner, and proud father. Gil is a candidate for Downey City Council, District 3 (Northwest region) Gil’s top priorities are to:
  • Decrease crime by hiring more police and to expand our initiatives addressing homelessness
  • Support Downey’s local economy by cutting excess red tape at city hall required for new and existing businesses
  • Increase transparency between Downey residents and city government to improve our community
As a sworn reserve police officer, Gil is deeply committed to public safety. Gil dedicates his time to working with the nonprofit organization Gangs Out Of Downey (GOOD), which aims to address and reduce gang-related activities in Downey.

As a father of three, Gil has a passion for supporting our youth. He is a board member for the ARC, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports children with developmental disabilities. He also serves on the “Keep Our Children Safe” committee at his church, Our Lady Of Perpetual Help.
